Dr. Chaparro is a clinical psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario providing evidenced-based psychotherapy to young adults, adults, and couples in both English and Spanish. In a warm and confidential atmosphere, Dr. Chaparro treats different types of anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties. For individuals, she uses an integrative trauma-informed approach drawing mainly from Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). For couples, Dr. Chaparro has been training in the Gottman Method, a goal-oriented approach designed for couples who are seeking to improve the quality of their relationship. She has been working part-time at Thrive since 2015 and greatly enjoys the atmosphere of the clinic.
Dr. Chaparro obtained her masters and doctoral degree in Psychology at the University of Toronto. She has worked in a variety of settings including Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Lakeridge Health, McMaster University Wellness Centre, and she currently holds a tenured position at Ryerson University at the Counselling Centre.
