Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is the assessment and treatment of various conditions including, but not limited to, muscles, bones, connective tissues, and ligaments surrounding the pelvis. Pelvic floor physiotherapy is conducted by registered physiotherapists who have undergone extensive training to specialize in this area of treatment.

The therapist will conduct a detailed internal and external examination of your pelvis and discuss the findings with you to plan a treatment approach that best suits your needs. Treatment may include additional internal pelvic floor therapy, bladder retraining, stretching, and strengthening techniques.

Conditions that can be treated through pelvic floor physiotherapy include:

  • Vaginal pain
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Pain during sex
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Low back pain
  • Sacroiliac pain
  • Piriformis syndrome/sciatica
